meet the team

Meet Joseph, a seasoned law enforcement professional with a 27-year career dedicated to public safety and training. Starting his journey in 1996 at Rahway State Prison, joining the Special Operations Group in 1999 before transitioning to the Fair Lawn Police Department.

As a Firearms Instructor for the 70-officer department, he attained the rank of Detective Sergeant while serving as the Rangemaster, overseeing court security, and supervising the detective bureau. His passion for training led him to instruct at the esteemed Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute at the request of academy staff around 2002.

Throughout his career, Joseph has trained alongside elite members of the Special Operations Forces, including Delta, Green Berets, and Navy SEALs, as well as SWAT teams from the FBI, ATF, and various state and local agencies. He has honed his skills with master-class shooters from the USPSA/IPSC community and is an alumnus of renowned training facilities like Storm Mountain and Blackwater.

Joseph has also played a pivotal role on the Command Staff of a 160-officer regional team, leading a 20-officer chemical and less-lethal operations team and a 15-member extrication team, providing essential training to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Joseph has been teaching firearms and tactics for over two decades and holds a myriad of Instructor certifications in firearms, less lethal and chemical munitions, CQB small unit tactics, active shooter repsonse and SWAT operations.

Now retired, Joseph is committed to sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience through his training classes and at the Academy.
